It's easy to see why the Wolves have been so bad for so long
Wolves GM David Kahn finally fired his head coach Kurt Rambis. There are several issues far beyond simply firing the coach, chief among them is Kahn himself. I will not defend the coaching ability or style of Rambis. I don't think in the history of sport I can ever remember a coach/manager allowed to twist in the wind like this for more than two months. The entire basketball world knew Rambis was history and maybe the pending lockout delayed his firing. Kahn was probably in no rush to replace a coach who had a contract paying him for two additional years. The firing was Kahn's call, it was handled poorly just like the Wolves franchise has been run over the last decade.

Where in the wide world of sports is Spearville Kansas?
You probably never heard of Spearville Kansas, neither had I. This tiny town of 900+ souls is some 17 miles northeast of Dodge City. Spearville has provided Olathe Northwest with a very talented 6'10" 220 pound center. Last summer Cauley played for the Mo-Kan AAU team, he stated basketball competition was severely limited in and around his home town. One of Cauley's teammates on the Mo-Kan team was Shavon Shields son of former Chiefs great Will Shields. Cauley and Shields formed a friendship during the summer as teammates, last August Cauley moved in with the Shields family. Cauley has furthered developed his game as a member of the Olathe Northwest Ravens. Both ESPN and Rivals list Cauley as a four star prospect.

Basketball 101
I admit I don't shot the rock as regularly or as good as I once did, my life these days contain few visits to any basketball courts. I was never a great shooter only average but I had to prove I had a little game left. My six year old grandson has a basketball goal in his parents driveway, the goal is at regulation height and he can really shot. First of all I don't recommend shooting baskets in 100+ temperatures very long but I was forced to continue by the six year old. After shooting several air balls and short shots he was giving me the blues, can you imagine a six year old talking trash about your game? Eventually I warmed up and shot 5 or 6 shots in a row from distance, I had to show him his grandpa had played a little basketball back in the day.

The Big Shaqtus
It's now been confirmed Shaquille O'Neal will join Kenny, Barkley and Ernie in studio. The SI.com article points out several vital facts which will benefit Shaq. A TNT job is a better fit than ESPN, ESPN studios are located in Bristol Connecticut TNT's in Atlanta. Atlanta is much closer to Orlando (Shaq's home) than Bristol. It was also reported this will allow Shaq occasional appearances on NBA TV which is also broadcast from the Turner studios. Despite what might appear at times I think Charles Barkley does work at his craft probably not as much as Kenny Smith but he does more than just show up. Shaq must be willing to put in the time if he is to be successful in this new direction in his career.

Mark your calendar
Often basketball fans must wait for the NCAA tournament to view a match this significant. Saturday December 3 potential number 1 North Carolina will face potential number 2 Kentucky. Not sure if this is the beginning of a recurring home and home series, the game will be played at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Hey Skip I'm open to a road trip.
