Basketball from a fan’s perspective

Stick a fork in the Nuggets, I think they are done
You might remember after my Lakers were eliminated, I decided I needed another team to root for, especially in the west. I chose the Denver Nuggets mostly because of Michael Porter Jr. former Mizzou Tiger. The Nuggets have the 2021 MVP (Nikola Jokic’), despite this fact they haven’t played MVP basketball as they fell again to the Suns 116-102. The Nuggets are now at the place you never return, they are in an 0-3 hole.

If it appears I might be disparaging the Suns far from that, it’s clear they are exceptionally good. In the Western Conference Finals, we have them facing the Clippers or Jazz. In all seriousness I cannot see the Clippers having little ability of hindering the Suns in their march toward a possible championship, as for the other guys I will adopt a wait and see on that. It appears I have “hitched my wagon to a falling star” (Nuggets), oh well there’s next season.

Bits n Pieces
LeBron is correct, the future of the NBA looks impressive, all we need do is consider the budding talent. We have Luka “The Don” Doncic of the Mavs and the guy he was traded for Trae Young point guard of the Hawks. We can add the name of Jayson Tatum of the Celtics and his teammate Jaylen Brown along with another point guard Ja Morant and Donovan Mitchell. All the parties mentioned are under the age of 25, can we use the term “Youth will be served.” There are others, the skillful Ball brothers Lonzo and LaMelo along with Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton.

Former NBA player and analyst Kendrick Perkins has decided Blazer guard Dame Lillard should consider moving to the Lakers or Celtics. Much as I’d love to have him move southward to SoCal that’s got to be his decision. We are in a strange time I believe; we have third parties (Perkins & Stephen A. Smith) suggesting a player go here or go there. Nothing wrong with soliciting advice from someone, at the time they make suggestions on your future that’s a whole different matter.

This story becomes curiouser and curiouser as they said in the classic Alice in Wonderland. We are discussing the potential sale or not of the Wolves franchise, they just might wind up remaining in Minnesota over Seattle. The WNBA is the holdup, Seattle has the Storm and Minnesota has the Lynx. The sale of the franchise involves the Wolves and Lynx, partners Rodriguez and Lore cannot move their WNBA team into an area with an existing team. For now, it would appear the franchise will remain in

Help Wanted
The above is a sign hanging in the window of several NBA franchises, they are hiring. These are just a few of the names we’ve heard:

Jason Kidd
Chauncey Billups
Charles Lee
Darvin Ham
Ime Udoka
Mike D’Antoni
Mike Brown
Sam Cassell
Becky Hammon
Dave Joerger

Are you surprised D’Antoni’s name is mentioned once again? I continue to be mystified why his and Jeff Van Gundy’s name always seem to popup anytime there are NBA jobs open. I guess it must be that name recognition thing. No disagreement here Becky Hammon is qualified but she will not be hired this upcoming season. It’s going to take a daring team to hire the first female as head coach, on the other hand the Celtics took a chance on a guy named Bill Russell.

He said it
We have discovered the Hawks Trae Young is a budding talent, perhaps he might be on the verge of superstardom. "Trae Young missed 38 shots in two games this week. Missed 20 threes. Can Kruger coach him or not?" This tweet is from a former Kansas City sports radio host from 2018, at that time Trae Young was in his freshman year playing for the University of Oklahoma. Makes us wonder what this guy thinks of the point guard now, rest assured at the time he tweeted this information it was correct?

The problem is many in the media hardly ever return to the scene of the crime, they rarely admit they are wrong in any issue they might have discussed. The tweet you read was just one of the negative statements this host voiced or tweeted on Young during his radio program. There are several people I know personally; they might believe I wait for this guy, Stephen A. Smith and others to make a mistake so I can jump on them for statements they made. That is not my life pursuit to prove this guy or anyone else wrong.
