BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERSPECTIVE
We have freedom of speech except...in certain instances
A Knick fan yelled “Sell the team” at owner James Dolan.  According to reports Dolan confronted the fan first and then had him removed from Madison Square Garden.  There are further reports he’s been banned from the building.  We must guesstimate Dolan didn’t appreciate the advice given by this fan, LOL.
Is there a point guard in the future?
In attendance at the OVC tournament was Laker management Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka.  They witnessed an outstanding game by Murray State’s Ja Morant.  Were the Laker brass in attendance to see Morant play, lately they have done a very good job of forecasting their intended movement of players.  It might be a little difficult for 6-foot 9-inch Magic Johnson and 6-foot 6-inch Rob Pelinka to appear as “spectators” at a game.
The height and appearance of the two give them away immediately.  Although they are sliding downward “turbo” Morant will likely be selected by the Lakers 13th or 14th pick.  As most are aware, he’s projected as the number 3 through 5 picks, perhaps the front office was in attendance to see a player other than Morant.  That’s got to be the case, on the other hand they could be forecasting a move which has been quite evident recently.
3-point shot
The 3-point shot is never going away, that’s evident as more and more NBA teams have adopted it as a major portion of their offense.  We can thank the Warriors and maybe to a degree the Rockets, these are teams attaining success with the shot.  Where does that place today’s 7-foot centers, former NBA player Elvin Hayes addressed this issue recently.  These are my words not his, NBA teams now require quicker more mobile centers.
They must be able to race up and down the court to keep up with the pace of the game, this enables centers to contest the 3-point shot.  We have centers Joel Embiid, Boogie Cousins, Brook Lopez and others the shot has become part of their arsenal.  In fact, it’s likely most shots taken by Lopez are the 3-point type.  In addition, today’s NBA centers must be able to defend the pick and roll another change in NBA offenses over the last several years.
I remain unsure
The jury is still out regarding Tacko Fall, the question is he an NBA talent?  I’ve watched this University of Central Florida senior for 3 years, I believe I witnessed signs of improvement over his freshman year.  His scoring has risen to nearly 12 points a game is mostly dunks although he’s got a jump shot. I read the coaching staff doesn’t want him shooting jumpers and you can understand why.  He can dunk the ball on his tip-toes, why take a shot when you can dunk it.
Fall from Senegal in West Africa is quite imposing on the court, although he stands 7 feet 6 inches and 310 pounds he must be classified as a project.  Some might remember the late Manute Bol who stood 7 feet 7 inches.  Bol played for several NBA teams but blossomed under Don Nelson becoming a 3-point threat.  Despite his height Bol only weigh 200 pounds, Fall checks in a 310 pounds.  Bol played in the 1985 NBA, would a 2019 NBA team be willing to add a player considered a project?
