Basketball from a fan’s perspective

No argument just a question
At the end of a 3-game road trip in Portland before a mostly hostile crowd the Lakers led by Anthony Davis and LeBron James combined for 70 points, they hammered the Blazers 136-113 and now have 20 wins versus 3 losses.  In the upper Midwest in Milwaukee witnessed the Bucks taming the Clippers 119-91.  No argument Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are talents, management has assembled a talented team however there remains a question.
These are the words after their game Friday night against the Bucks, "We're just a work in progress," (Kawhi) Leonard said. "This team is just really kind of put together this year. We've got to figure it out. Some of us don't know the plays coming down, and it's hard to get in our sets. We've just got to keep striving." 1.
My first thought, the Lakers are also a work in progress, they too have been put together this year.  Keep in mind the season is still young and Paul George is adjusting from off-season shoulder surgery.  Despite this fact Leonard’s explanation causes me to scratch my head, both teams are brand new in a sense.  By the way anything can occur in life however that talk a few weeks back concerning AD returning home to play for the Bulls (8-15) is strictly talk in my opinion.

1.  ESPN
An interesting lineup
Mizzou’s Saturday evening match versus Temple had a unique starting lineup.  Both Smith guards Dru and Mark were in the starting lineup.  Coach Martin decided to insert Mitchell Smith into the starting lineup.  A portion of the lineup might appear to be a law firm, Smith, Smith & Smith.  On a serious note Mizzou on the road no less beat Temple 64-54.  Mizzou now stands 5-4 after the disappointing loss to Charleston Southern.  On the other hand, I could look at Stephen F. Austin beating Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium for solace.
Would he be seriously considered?
The NBA player formerly known as World B. Peace (Ron Artest) wants to coach the Knicks.   We’d lost track of him since his retirement from basketball however it appears, he’s remained in the game.  He’s currently serving as player development coach for the South Bay Lakers of the G-League.  The key question will Knick ownership consisting of owner Dolan consider signing this former Queens New York guy head coach?  The Knicks named Mike Miller interim coach so it’s likely no decision will be made until the season is complete.

He remained at home
We are so caught up in the drama surrounding Memphis center James Wiseman we forget.  We could make the same statement could be made regarding LaMelo Ball and he’s playing his basketball in Australia.  Our focus this time is the prospect who never left the country, in fact he never left his home state.  After distinguishing himself at Holy Spirit Prep in Atlanta Anthony Edwards chose to attend the University of Georgia in nearby Athens.
Edwards was named the number three prospect in Rivals Class of 2019.  As for his numbers on the court they might be up or down by the time you read this, currently the 6-foot 5-inch shooting guard is scoring almost 21 points a game.  Just to give you an indication he only plays offense Edwards leads the Bulldogs in steals with 2.3 a game.  Chances are good we hear his name called by commissioner Silver in June he’s that good.

How do you determine?
There must be a method of determining a television audience I’m just not sure of the criteria.  In the old days the Nielsen ratings were the key to a program being cancelled or remaining on the air.  The advent of cable television witnessed the viewing audience being fracture as the number of channels began to proliferate.  Several cable systems might contain upwards of 250 or more viewing choices.
The advent of streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and others continue the trend to split audience viewing habits.  Okay I know what you are saying, ‘I thought this was supposed to be a basketball blog!  It is about basketball allow me to explain, its being reported NBA viewership has dropped thus far for the 2019-20 season.  My question is how can anyone tell anymore whose watching what and when?
