Game 2
This is incomplete; work prevented me from seeing the game from the beginning. By the time I arrived home it was the middle of the first quarter. As expected LeBron and company are playing much better than Game 1, the Warriors held a slight lead 42-35 over the Cavs.
Both teams proved they could score the ball at the half it was Warriors 67 Cavs 64 fasten your seat belts for the second half of the game.
Final score Dubs 132 Cavs 113 as they totally put a whopping on the visitors. As I said previously I expected the Cavs to play better and they did but there is a problem. The Warriors played even better allowing them to gain 2 games to none advantage. The Cavs cannot give up 245 points (113 & 132) and expect to beat any team. It seems the Warriors are "willing" to allow LeBron, Irving and Love to score and shutting down every other Cavs player. That's an over simplification of the story but close to the events.
I like Bruce Pearl
Just because you admire someone you also must take into consideration they could fail at some point-----that’s the case with Bruce Pearl. Pearl is head coach at Auburn but once served as the head man at Tennessee. He was FIRED at Tennessee he got into trouble with the NCAA, the Vols were winners on the court off the court it was a different matter. Tennessee had been placed on probation at the time Cuonzo Martin was hired and then a strange thing occurred. Despite a 63-41 (.606) record in three seasons many of the Vol faithful were pining for the return of Pearl. It was reported over 45,000 signatures asking for the coach to return is quite significant considering Pearl was the chief reason the school was on probation. All I can say it appears many Vol fans liked Martin but loved Pearl that’s the bottom line. At the time Martin was hired at Mizzou I read a number of letters critical of the coach for his short stay at Tennessee and later Cal. Cal might be a whole other story as for Tennessee it’s easy to see why he left. Your fiancée (Tenn.) claims she loves you (Martin) but is always comparing you to the guy (Pearl) she dumped.
You still hatin’
One of the barbers at my shop continues to hate on Kevin Durant. He is upset because KD was a loser against the Warriors while a member of the Thunder and turned around and joined them. As I indicated on Wednesday one game does not make a series however I would like to point out one key ingredient. KD on the Warriors is not KD on the Thunder; he appears to be more at ease. The roster says KD is 6-9 I say he’s closer to 7 feet tall, in addition great as LeBron is he cannot guard KD all game and series long.
Bits n Pieces
I stopped counting at 8 and I’m unsure if that’s even accurate. For years the Knicks, Lakers and Celtics had two jerseys one for home and one for the road. Sometime in the mid to late ‘80’s teams began to experiment with alternative jerseys. This was a two-fold change, a number of entertained the financial reward due to sale of a number of different styles of jerseys. As for the historic franchises even they began change, the Lakers added one in white and one in black.
Do the Clippers need Jerry West to advance to an NBA Championship? That appears to be the story, reports indicate the Clippers are attempting to hire West from the Warriors. I’ve always admire West, he was critical in building the Showtime Lakers. Much later he lured Shaq and other free-agents to the Lakers and boom three more NBA Championships, on second thought maybe the Clippers do need him.
UCLA Coach Steve Alford claims LaVar Ball caused no problems with his team. Why should we expect to run into problems with the Lakers and Magic Johnson? Despite all the brash behavior this guy is not going to give Magic directions. That doesn’t mean I’m implying Ball is a push-over quite the contrary however I stand by my beliefs. LaVar Ball will continue to talk as long as someone places a microphone in front of him, will he give Magic directions I highly doubt it. In other family news “baby” brother LaMelo scores 50 points in an AAU game and his team lost the game. Is this an indictment of AAU ball, LaMelo Ball or both? You make the call on this story.
