Basketball from a fans perspective

He’s not serious…is he?
The Knicks might have the tallest lineup in NBA history if this move should occur.  Coach David Fizdale looking ahead to the season proposes a bold lineup “experiment”.  The coach indicates he might move the 7-foot 3-inch Kristaps Porzingis to the small forward, 7 foot 1-inch Luke Kornet and 7-foot 1 rookie Mitchell Robinson would alternate at the center and power forward position.  6-foot 9-inch rookie Kevin Knox would be installed at the shooting guard.  Would this lineup work offensively?  That question is impossible to conclude without seeing the starting five on the floor.  As for the defense it might be nearly impossible to shoot over the top of 7-1, 7-1 and 7-3.
New logo
The new logo for the Kansas City Tornadoes of the TBL or The Basketball League look remarkably familiar.  The colors are the same as the former Kansas City-Omaha Kings, color is red, white and blue.
Shopping
If you are like me you might possibly be like me, I continue to shop for additions to my man-cave.  I’m checking the NBA Store, Amazon, EBay and other sites for apparel weekly sometimes daily.  If an athlete retires pricing on said jersey rarely changes, contrast this with an athlete who simply changes through trade or free-agency.  A Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant jersey sells at a higher price than it might have 10 years ago.

Much of the increase is due to inflation and of course the popularity of the player.   A D’Angelo Russell or Jeremy Lin Laker jersey have been reduced in price significantly from their retail price a few years ago.  Julius Randle just weeks removed from the Laker roster has seen his number 30 reduced ever so slightly, the same will exist for Brook Lopez although I haven’t checked his jersey yet.  As you are aware my man-cave is Laker apparel only however I’m sure this scenario plays out with other NBA teams.
Pay attention please
We pay little attention to the Mountain West Conference; the conference is not one of the power 5 and that’s why it’s often overlooked by the media.  The Mountain West Time zone is a factor too.  One of its member schools the Nevada Wolf Pack made an NCAA run which caused the nation to sit up and take notice.  They finished the conference race with 15 wins and only 3 losses.
It was the 2018 NCAA tournament run that made everybody recognize coach Eric Musselman’s team.  First, they beat Texas and then Cincinnati before losing to number 11 Loyola Chicago 69-68, they finished 2018 with a 29-8 record.  The point don’t snooze on the Mountain West or any other conference once the NCAA tournament begins.  We sometimes tend to forget the basketball bounces the same in their Lawlor Events Center as it does in Allen Fieldhouse or the Dean Dome.
They are so bad
The Kings are so very bad few notice “the rose among all the thorns” in Willie Cauley-Stein.  Cauley-Stein is from Spearville Kansas, before you ask I’ll provide some demographics.  Spearville is a town of 773 souls and sits in central Kansas, it’s located about 20 miles from Dodge City, 150 miles from Wichita and 319 miles from Kansas City (MO).  Cauley-Stein growing in height and skill believed tiny Spearville was too small for him to continue developing his basketball ability.  AAU basketball would lead Cauley-Stein to Olathe Northwest High School in Olathe Kansas.
By the time he moved to Olathe he’d grown in height to 7 feet.  It should be of note Cauley-Stein played football at Northwest and might be the tallest wide receiver in history.  Fast forward past his three years at Kentucky, in 2015 the Kings made him the 6th pick in the first round.  Like most big men it’s taken awhile for him to mature in the post. 12.8 points per game is certainly not earth-shattering numbers however they represent increase scoring in each of his first three years.  Although Spearville is nowhere close to Kansas City Cauley-Stein played high school ball in the metro so we claim him as a home town hero.
