BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERSPECTIVE
Shut up Scottie
Zion Williamson really didn’t tell Scottie Pippen to shut up, but I did.  You might remember the comment the former Bulls player made, he said Williamson should not take a chance on injury he should quit immediately.  Pippen went on to say Williamson needs to prepare himself for the NBA draft.

There is likely no doubt the Duke freshman will be the number one or two pick in the 2019 draft, but he’s not intending to follow Pippen’s advice.  This youngster has other ideas which he was comfortable expressing to the media.  Williamson indicated he would be letting his teammates, Coach K. and others down if he quit right now.  It's highly likely there was no malice intended in Pippen’s statement I’m sure he was expressing his opinion of Williamson’s situation.

Where is it?
Murray Kentucky is nearer Nashville Tennessee than the Kentucky state capital.  The distance between Murray and the Kentucky capital Frankfort is 262 miles, Nashville is 120 miles away.  Why the geography lesson you ask, allow a brief explanation.  After hearing of Murray State for years I had no idea where the university was located.  In addition to the geography study there is a basketball study as well.  The Murray State Racers play in the Ohio Valley Conference, unlike Kentucky, Duke and Carolina teams always on television its possible you haven’t seen the Racers in action.
If you live in the area of Murray State or attend a conference school, it’s likely you’ve witnessed his play.  The Racers have one of the best players in the nation on their roster, Ja Morant a 6-foot 3-inch point guard, this talented sophomore is quietly moving up on mock draft sites.  As an example, NBADraftnet list Morant number two on their weekly updated site, Basketballinsiders.com and DraftExpress.com list Morant number four on their sites.  As noted in the past these mocks are doggone accurate especially regarding the first round.  It might be extremely difficult for Morant to remain in school with a potential draft rating this high.

He can do almost everything except
My morning routine is to check as many college and NBA box scores as I can.  I’ve been monitoring the Dallas Mavs because of their rookie Luka Doncic.  The box on Sunday morning indicated Doncic scored but 8 points in a loss to the Pacers.  Since the rookie has been scoring at a 20 ppg clip I thought this highly unusual.  My first thought Doncic must have gotten in foul trouble, a further check revealed that was not the issue.
Later I checked out video highlights of the game on the ESPN.com NBA page, Doncic and a few Pacer players were contesting a shot around the basket.  After the Pacers scored Doncic expressing his displeasure drop kicked the basketball into the stands.  That becomes an automatic ejection because his action represented a second technical, Doncic had received one in the first half of the game.  We later read that was not his intention nor did he know this was an automatic ejection.
It’s all Lonzo’s fault
Saturday was a good basketball day and evening except.  Army football is much better than basketball except when playing Navy, after playing catch up the cadets of West Point won the match 72-61.  Later Mizzou at Texas A&M also proved to be a winner, Jeremiah Tilmon on the floor for an extended period witnessed a 66-43 win for the Tigers.  So, I was 2 for 2, hopefully the Lakers could hold James Hardin below 100 points and win the evening contest.
The Lakers were rolling, the Rockets were missing shots.  I thought all 3 are going to win and then it occurred.  Lonzo Ball so critical to the Lakers fast start with assists and steals went down with a sprained ankle.  The Lakers could not hold on, the Rockets forced an overtime and won 138-134.  As for Harden it was a 48-point game for him, oh well I was disappointed but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
