Basketball from a fan’s perspective

I wouldn’t do that if I were you
Elton Brand had a good NBA career after leaving Duke, he played for several teams prior to his retirement.  He retired in 2016 and immediately went to work in basketball management.  The first position was player development consultant for the Sixers, he then was named GM of the Sixers G-League team.  September 2018 he became GM of the parent club, since then Brand has demonstrated his basketball skillfulness in signing free agents and being part of the draft process.

As you can see, he’s not been on the job very long and his labor has come to the attention of…wait for it, wait for it…the Knicks.  It’s being reported Knicks president Leon Rose who was only hired weeks ago wants to hire Brand.  Two considerations, Brand is still under contract with the Sixers for another year.  Secondly there is no doubt Rose is sincere in desiring to hire Brand but at what cost?  Not the amount of money Brand would be paid but the stability issue, the Knicks front office is somewhat suspect.

Laker fans are upset, Clipper fans have no issue
This single person has no intent to speak for every Laker and Clipper fan, but we do have an issue.  The sale of the Forum to Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is not quite what I first perceived.  The intention is to build a state-of-the-art arena, if there are construction delays the Forum will become home until the Clippers arena is finished.  That is the portion of the story I missed initially; they would be sharing the same building however the Forum has history.

Several Laker fans think it becomes funny if the Clippers might be forced to play in the same building 12 Laker championships were won.  Others have an issue with a Clippers team even setting foot inside the building.  As for Clipper fans this appears to be no issue, management is happy believing they are no longer playing in the shadow of the Lakers.  Technically that last statement while true is still interesting.  If I were a Clippers fan, I would hope there are no construction delays and the team can move into an arena no team has ever played except them.

An early look
A new name previously unknown popped up as a future Mizzou prospect over the weekend, Aiden Shaw is completing his sophomore year in high school.  Shaw is a 4-star Rivals shooting guard/small forward and a member of the Class of 2022.  He attends Blue Valley High School in Stillwell located on the Kansas side of the Kansas City Metro.

Shaw has a total of six schools on his list including Mizzou, it should be of note rarely do the border states recruit the same player, but it occurs in this instance, the Kansas Jayhawks are also one of the number who identify Shaw.  With two years remaining in school Shaw has plenty of opportunity to change his mind, Mizzou Nation desires to see the youngster in Black and Gold in Columbia rather than Lawrence Kansas.

Does he belong in this exclusive company?
Carmelo Anthony has been one of the NBA’s leading stars for several years, is he an all-time Knick is the question?  The inquiry is made of you as clutchpoints.com listed the 5 greatest Knicks in the team’s history and Anthony was named.  Just in case you didn’t read the article the names they published are:

Earl “The Pearl” Monroe
Willis Reed
Walt “Clyde” Frazier
Patrick Ewing
Carmelo Anthony

Searching the archives for past Knick greats we discovered:

Dave DeBusschere
Bill Bradley
John Starks
Allen Houston
Larry Johnson
Harry “The Horse” Gallatin

These are but a few of the names we located, see if you can determine if Carmelo Anthony might be replaced by one of the athletes listed above.
