Basketball from a fans perspective

Brazil in da house
I didn’t know a great deal about Marcelo Huertas except I knew he was from Brazil. I decided to check out his bio and provide you and me some information. He’s 32-years old so the Lakers have no plans for him becoming the starting point guard at least I believe that. He’ll back up D’Angelo Russell providing a veteran presence on the court and a spark off the bench. Although from Brazil the 6-3 point guard actually played high school ball in a Dallas-Fort Worth suburb.

After graduating from Coppel High School in 2001 he joined FMU Sao Paulo in his native Brazil, from there he played for a number of Euro teams over the next 14 years.  Although eligible for the 2005 NBA Draft he went un-drafted, on September 9, 2015 he signed a one year non-guaranteed contract with the Lakers. Huertas is a throw-back in a manner of speaking he’s a pass first point guard uncommon in the NBA of today.

Hey Stephen A.
“If you are predicting 27 wins I LAUGH AT THAT”. Melo to all the Knick doubters.
I’m not sure where the poster is intended to be displayed, it contains an image of Carmelo Anthony.  Standing on Carmelo's right side is new Knick Arron Affallo and on his life is 2015 number one draft pick Kristaps Porzingis the sentence above is on the poster. Of course it stands for nothing unless the Knicks become winners again. As for Stephen A. Smith he’s been one of the most vocal critics of Knick management. I laugh at this poster because it says “I don’t care what you say we are better than that.”

Another controversy
This story continues to evolve as additional details continue to be presented. University of Missouri-Kansas City assistant coach Andrew McGee is currently suspended by his present employer. McGee had served as an assistant on Rick Pitino’s Louisville staff for a number of years. A book recently published claims McGee brought female escorts to parties as an inducement for prospects their fathers or guardians to choose Louisville.

Five former players have confirmed the story however one former player has indicated no such activity occurred. Yet to be heard at this point is McGee, Pitino has called for him to refute the story or admit responsibility. As for Pitino he claims no knowledge which may or may not be true. The bigger question does every head coach know at all times know the day to day activities of assistants? I just heard this morning that coach whomever they are responsible for all activity relating to their team, what do you think?

You have a friend
“What is friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”---Aristotle I believe that quote might apply to Knicks owner James Dolan and former coach and general manager Isiah Thomas. Recently Dolan detailed in an HBO’s Real Sports interview his belief in his friend Thomas. Earlier this year the owner hired Thomas (again) this time for his WNBA Liberty team. This hire was made despite the sexual harassment lawsuit brought against MSG and the Knicks while Thomas was at the helm of the Knicks.

Thomas has continued to defend himself over and over again indicating he wasn’t guilty of anything. He’s correct in that regard the court did not find Thomas guilty but concluded a “hostile” work environment existed. In any event a loud howl went up from the media and fans when the Thomas hire was announced. It’s my understanding Thomas will not coach the Liberty but will be part of the front office for the team. Maybe Aristotle is correct perhaps Dolan and Thomas is a single soul dwelling in two bodies
