Basketball from a fans perspective

It’s happening baby
As this is written the Cleveland Indians rush out to 3 games to 1 lead over the Cubs.  The Cubs win Game 5 however it remains likely the Indians win the World Series and deprive long suffering Cubs fans the prospect of waiting another 71 years before their beloved team might return to the fall classic. Can you imagine two championships in one city in less than months, we wondered if this might has occurred in the past.  Our memories are so short research determines it’s been more than one time and its occurred in several different cities.  Most recently in 2009 the Steelers won the Super Bowl and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup.  Before that it was 2004 the Patriots winning the Super Bowl and the baseball Red Sox World Series became winners.

The elephant in the room
You know there is always a subject everyone notices but for a number of reasons fails to discuss in public.  Marc Spears attempted to cover the issue for ESPN’s The Undefeated.  The title “Where Are All The White American NBA Players?”  Spears gathered a number of white NBA players for the story asking questions of each.

The responses offered by the players were quite interesting and informative.  I offer no proof just a theory; we’ve discussed the increasing numbers of Euro players in the NBA.  It seems as the number of Euro players began increasing the amount of white American players began to decrease.  My suggestion is to read the October 25th edition of The Undefeated and draw your on conclusions.

Presidential Citizens Medal
The Cavs are NBA Champions but only through the regular season.  It’s not me making the statement it’s the President of the United States Barack Obama.  He claims he’s going with the Warriors strictly because of Kevin Durant.  The president says; “I think they have too much firepower.”  Just kidding the NBA Champion will not receive a Presidential Citizens Medal just my idea of a joke.

This is different
Few prospects remain uncommitted in the Class of 2017.  Even more interesting a number of the schools while competitive are not usually ranked so high.  It was mentioned previously Western Kentucky was in the Top 10 in recruiting.  New to the gathering Auburn, Arkansas and Washington.  These schools and others appear to announce to the big boys they wanna play on their level.

Finally on the move????
I wanted to check the latest news before writing this article.  It appears the Warriors will play in Chase Center in the fall of 2019.  The replacement arena for the team will be constructed in the Mission Bay section of San Francisco.  The Chase Center will seat 18,000 for basketball and the amenities will be state of the art.

As mentioned previously the Chase Center has been tied up by a location issue which caused a move to another location.  Location became an issue in the secondary location due to its proximity to a hospital.  Those of us outside the Bay Area cannot be assured everything is moving smoothly.  That’s my reasoning for underlining the word appears in the first sentence of this report.
