Basketball from a fans perspective

I goofed
At the time I announced Friday night’s basketball games I forgot something very important.  I pointed out games on NBA TV and college games on the ESPN Family of Networks.  I failed to mention college games were also on the CBS Sports Network and various regional Fox Sports Network channels.  In addition a host of regional channels spread throughout the nation also had college games for viewing.  My apologies, my attempt has always been to be a conduit for all things basketball related I failed miserably this time.

(Former) Kentucky Wildcats
It doesn’t matter you both played for the same coach and school.  Boogie Cousins arrived in the NBA ahead of fellow Wildcat Julius Randle but it didn’t matter.  Although the two play different positions double teams had power Randle sometimes matched against center Cousins.  Kings jersey (Cousins) versus Lakers jersey (Randle) as the two bumped and generally attempted to annoy one another.

How contemptuous was the game between the two you ask?  At the end of the game Cousins went over toward the Laker bench he and Randle went chest to chest bumping one another.  The game was certainly over at this stage however we must assume Cousins was inviting Randle over for dinner the next time the Lakers visit.  Final score Lakers 101 Kings 91, have the days of Bibby/Webber/ Kings versus Shaq/Kobe/ Lakers returned---only time will tell.

Bits n Pieces

And you thought it was just me Wednesday night in closing NBA GameTime NBA TV host Vince Cellini mentioned how good the Warriors and Clippers were playing and once again the Western Conference appeared to be strong.  Cellini asks Shaq if he was a Clipper believer.  Shaq’s response was short; “Not yet. “

James Harden move to the point has proven beneficial but will it aid the Rockets pursuit over the long-haul?  That question and others remain unanswered however his team went into the AT&T Center and beat the Spurs on Wednesday.  By the way Harden registered a triple-double leading his Rockets team to a 101-99 victory.  24 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists is unquestionably outstanding.

University of Missouri Kansas City received three (3) commitments for 2017-18.  DeMarco Smith a 6-1 guard Washington HS Kansas City (KS), Brandon McKissic 6-2 guard St Louis University HS St. Louis (MO).  Also added was 6-4 guard Marvin Nesbitt Butler College Prep Chicago (IL).  Its great continuing to recruit talent however height might be an issue, UMKC will have only 4 players over 6-7 at the time this trio arrives on campus.

The 5th win for the Lakers occurred on November 11th 2016, last season it was December 22nd. Thanks to Baxter Holmes ESPN staff writer for pointing this out.  Will this young Laker team make the playoffs I doubt it.  Are they going to be improved over last season, baring injury you’d better head to Vegas and place some money on them?
