Basketball from a fans perspective

Mr. Big Shot
The Atlanta Hawks are searching for a general manager.  Among the names that surfaced is Chauncey Billups a.k.a. Mr. Big Shot.  Billups played for a number of teams but earn the nickname while a member of the Pistons.  Billups is currently serving as an NBA analyst for ESPN/ABC.  As for the GM position he is competing with a number of candidates for the position.
Injuries
You’ve heard since you first began following sports of all sorts, “Injuries are part of the game. “ We realize that fact but it certainly lessens the fact of the win.  Okay 10 years from now no one will likely be aware Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard, guard Tony Parker and Celtic guard Isaiah Thomas were missing in action.  Of course they sustained injuries which sidelined Parker and Thomas for the duration of the playoffs, Leonard is day to day.  The players mentioned are key members of the Spurs and Celtics and with neither in the lineup….well.

Just a number but interesting
Rock M Nation a Mizzou website asserts the number has now changed.  You remember earlier in the spring it was reported earlier the school’s Class of 2017 was ranked 10th best in the nation. Rock M Nation says the addition of Jeremiah Tilmon “moves Mizzou up to number six.” I know numbers don’t mean anything its production on the court that is key.  Nevertheless this is quite interesting to those of us who are Mizzou fans.  It’s been a rought several years and hopefully the sun is finally shining on Mizzou basketball.

The other guy
Laker fans are concentrating on the second pick; will it be Lonzo Ball, Markelle Fultz or somebody else?  We have no idea but for me I’m more curious about pick 28 and 33 in the second round.  I’m going to don my Luke Walton/Magic Johnson hat and state with conviction this next part.  Gone will be veterans Metta World Peace, Nick Young and perhaps Luol Deng. Mozgov remains due to his contract but plays limited minutes.  It’s likely the second round pick will be traded although we remove three veterans we cannot add three rookies to the roster.

NBA centers
If you compiled a Top 10 list of all-time great centers who is on your list?  Interesting in that Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) is top on my high school and college list, where does he rank in the NBA?  Drum roll (use your imagination please).

10.  Moses Malone
  9.  George Mikan
  8.  Bob Lanier
  7.  Walt Bellamy
  6.  Nate Thurmond
  5.  Willis Reed
  4.  Hakeem Olajuwon
  3.  Wilt Chamberlain
  2.  Kareem Abdul Jabbar
  1.  Bill Russell

Honorable mention
Patrick Ewing
David Robinson

This was considerably tougher than I first believed compiling a Top 10.  Your list might be totally different but that’s okay.
