Basketball from a
fans perspective
SMH
This move by the Lakers causes me to SMH, i.e. shake my head. They announced on Friday the signing of 6-foot 9-inch Michael Beasley to a 1-year contract. Yes, that Beasley who can sometimes shoot lights out but seems to always fall into disfavor with coaches and teams. He’s only 29-years old certainly not old by any means. Beasley played at nearby Kansas State so those in Big 12 country are quite familiar with his game, I hope for his sake this is his last NBA stop.
Never say never
You might have not heard the adage above, it simply says “don’t say it can’t occur it just might.” That’s kinda become my operative sentence at times. On one of the sports talk radio stations one co-host said, “Carmelo (Anthony) will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame.” As for his co-host his view was quite different he stated, “No ain’t happening” and went on with his explanation. I will repeat a past story, a co-worker asked me, “Is Dennis Rodman going into the Hall of Fame?” My comment, “no way” and explained why I didn’t believe it possible. In 2011 Rodman was enshrined in the Naismith Hall of Fame. Since that incorrect conclusion I have attempted to refrain from saying Never, I’m fearful of being wrong once again. Sure, I continue to speculate on stuff however I always place “I don’t think so, but it could.”

Number 23, LeBron James
at center
The headline is no typo you read it correctly, LeBron James at center for the Lakers. The early indication is they are exploring him in the post, this move is not likely to occur on a continuous basis. Expect to see this lineup at times at times based somewhat on the opposition. Sounds peculiar not really, consider the Warriors kings of small ball have employed the same type of lineup through much of their championship success. The 6-foot 7-inch 230-pound Draymond Green is often at the center position for the Warriors.

LeBron at 6-foot 8 inch and
250 pounds could handle himself in the post for periods. This lineup would allow the Lakers to place
Josh Hart at shooting guard, Brandon Ingram small forward, Lonzo Ball point
guard, Kyle Kuzma power forward. Lance
Stephenson and Rajon Rondo would likely be the first players off the bench. This lineup is not set in stone, it will be
interesting to see how it the lineup impacts the opposition. As for LeBron this is not new, he played in
the post for the Cavs at times.
Future sights
The NCAA announced the future Final Four sites for 2023 through 2026. The cities are Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio and Indianapolis, what I found interesting were the sites bidding. Los Angeles, Detroit and North Texas were the cities attempting to gain the Final Four games. There were no details, so we must speculate on a portion of this announcement.

There is no domed stadium in
the Los Angeles area although the Rams/Chargers Stadium under construction would
be available in the time frame. The architectural
drawings fail to indicate a dome however a covering of some type is shown over
the top of the stadium. Detroit has Ford
Field which is covered, as for North Texas we guess that must be Dallas. AT&T Stadium in Dallas is domed and
basketball has been held there in the past, the 2010 NBA All-Star game was played in the stadium.
