All righty then
Just in case you didn’t recognize the headline they belong to the worlds greatest detective correction pet detective Ace Ventura.  Markelle Fultz disclosed his injury to the public prior to his coach and GM.  He dropped another bomb on us, while taking a leave of absence it would be nice if the Sixers might look to trade him.  It didn’t come off as a threat he’s just putting all on notice he’d like a new zip code.
Bully Ball
Once upon a time the NBA was a much rougher and tumble league than it is today.  NBA games would often witness several fist fights between players of opposing teams.  Every team had an enforcer, the guy who would often be in the forefront of the fight.  This last vestige of bully ball occurred with the Bad Boy Pistons of Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman who played 1988-1991.  One of those tough guys was Lonnie Shelton who played for the Knicks and Cavs, in between those two teams he played for the Seattle Sonics.  His best years scoring, and rebounding were spent as a member of the Sonics, Shelton was one of the keys to their 1979 NBA championship.
How tough was Shelton, according to Kevin McHale this account cannot be confirmed although he indicates he believes it?  One evening the 6-foot 8-inch 240-pound Shelton was confronted by a holdup man.  Somehow Shelton managed to wrestle the handgun from its owner, he then proceeded to beat up the robber with his own gun.  Shelton pummeled the man so badly once he saw the police arriving he ran away from Shelton toward the police officers.  Shelton retired in 1986 and not much is listed for him over the course of years.  July 8, 2018 at the age of 62 Shelton died of a heart attack which left him in a coma.  Lonnie Shelton one of those blocks who helped make the NBA what we see today.
High school news
It’s not unusual for a high school athlete to reclassify in this day so this is not shocking news.  Anthony Edwards a 6-foot 4-inch shooting guard from Atlanta was the number three prospect in Rivals Class of 2020.  Edwards will now join the Class of 2019 after reclassifying, there were 16 offers prior to his decision.  Among the schools offering Edwards a scholarship were Florida, Georgia, Kansas and Auburn.
As this story was finalized my iPhone beeped at me, James Wiseman made his decision known.  Wiseman a 7-foot athlete and number two in the Class of 2019 is headed to Memphis.  Well that’s kinda of a reach, Rivals indicates he attends high school in the city.  He played on the AAU team coached by Penny Hardaway who now becomes his college coach.
“Why isn’t Becky Hammon an NBA head coach yet?”
The headline above was in USA Today recently, I have the answer and so do you.  No need of reading the story although it might take a different position than mine.  Hammon’s resume is extensive, former WNBA player head coach in the D-League Spurs assistant since 2014.  The answer is simple not a single owner to date is willing to take a chance on hiring her.  This is likely the ownership thought, “If the team requires a change and we fire her we’ll suffer repercussions.  We’ll be accused of gender inequality and perhaps other issues.”
We can look at the history of black head coaches in the NBA.  Once the Celtics hired Bill Russell NBA teams were in no hurry to duplicate the Celtics 1966 accomplishment.  One owner went so far to admit he was fearful of hiring a black coach believing he’d face repercussions if he fired the coach.  Since that time several NBA teams have hired and fired black head coaches, to my knowledge not a single team has faced any sort of consequence by fans.  So, there we have it, my view as to why Becky Hammon remains on the Spurs bench as an assistant.  One day an unknown NBA team will be bold enough to take a chance and make the move, they will hire Hammon or some other female as head coach.
