It just might occur
The 2019 mock draft of NBADraft.net dated November 12 is quite interesting.  They list Zion Williams as the top pick followed by R.J. Barrett and in third, they selected Cameron Reddish.  Did you note the significance, all three are Duke freshmen?  I hope all three remain in school however I seriously doubt that will occur.  As for the draft order projected by NBADraft.net if it should occur it’s likely the first time in NBA draft history.  In recent years we could look toward Kentucky, Kansas or North Carolina, although there have been multiple early teammates drafted none’s ever taken 1-2-3.
Something ain’t right
My iPhone beeped at me, “Fultz to see shoulder specialist” the headline read.  After Jimmy Butler was acquired the Sixer lineup was shuffled a bit which is understandable.  Apparently, T.J. McConnell has seen his playing time increase causing the media to pose a question.  Brett Brown Sixers coach was non-committal as to whether McConnell had moved ahead of Fultz in the rotation.  On Tuesday came this announcement, the attorney for Fultz told David Aldridge “Markelle Fultz will not participate in practices or games until he sees a shoulder specialist next week.”
There is something going on with Fultz and its difficult to determine without him specifying his case.  We know about missing most of last season due to that shoulder, then surgery.  No requirement to speculate at this point we must wait until next week to determine his future.  Just as I concluded this account came word from the Sixers front office, neither coach Brown or GM Elton Brand were aware of this unfolding development.  Are you as confused as I am over this incident?
“This group doesn’t like each other”
The words of ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski in describing the current state of the Wizards.  On paper they would appear to be better than a 5-win 11 loss team however as we all know they don’t play games on paper.  It’s acknowledged John Wall uttered a profanity at coach Scotty Brooks, the result of the verbal altercation was a fined Wall.
Anytime there are problems we always look toward the coach and in this instance it might be valid.  The backcourt of Wall and Bradley Beal are good individually but it’s clear at this point they might not be a good match together.  There are rumors the two and other Wizards are on the trading block.  A move will be made soon to rectify the issues which appear to run deeply, we shall see how this plays out.
Litmus test
I don’t believe I’ve ever heard a basketball game described as a “litmus test.”  What exactly is a litmus test, it has more than one definition according to Collins English Dictionary.  I believe the one that best fits are, “Any test in which a single factor determines the finding.”  A writer described Mizzou’s match against Oregon State as a litmus test.  I don’t know about that however the Tigers managed to squeak by the Beavers winning 69-63 in the team’s second game in the Paradise Jam Tournament.  The game was not televised except PPV, so I can only depend on the box score for results.
Mizzou did not shoot particularly well from the floor, that’s got to improve over the course of the season.  The Tigers were led in victory by guard Jordan Geist with 21 points and forward Kevin Puryear with 17.  Big man Jeremiah Tilmon fouled out registering but 6 points and 2 rebounds.  The early season has witnessed him unable to gain his “sea legs”, one good game followed up by a bad game then a good one.  This team must play as a unit to win, thus far senior Puryear has been the steadiest player on the team as he should be.  On Monday, Mizzou faced number 12 Kansas State for the championship of the tournament, that certainly was a larger litmus test than Oregon State.  NOTE:  K-State 82 Mizzou 67
