Basketball from a fan’s perspective

Just do it!
A few us didn’t realize there is a feud between Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard.  It should be expected since both play the point and generally might guard one another.  The warfare might be one sided in a sense, on the court Westbrook is a talker like former Sonic guard Gary Payton and others.  Lillard claims he’d rather his game do the talking for him rather than his mouth.  Numbers don’t always tell the story however this is the matchup with the Thunder headed home in an 0-2 hole.
Lillard 45% shooting 30 ppg 5 assists and 4 TO’s
Westbrook 35% shooting 19 ppg 10 assists and 5 TO’s
A second NBA team in Chicago
Relax, only Larry Laker’s made any statement about a second NBA team in the Windy City.  In the forefront of those opposing such a move would be Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf.  It’s likely he’s got no desire to share this market with an intruder.  Let’s check out the demographics, the Chicago metro is the 3rd largest in the nation.  Professional sports have always found a home here, the baseball Cubs and White Sox have long shared the love of baseball fans throughout the metro.
Most fans don’t realize Chicago had the NFL Bears and the Cardinals at one point in time.  Both teams were supported by the city, in 1960 the Cardinals moved to St. Louis and later to Arizona in 1988.  There’s been no demand to date or even mention of a second team in Chicago, anytime expansion or location of an existing franchise Seattle is the first city mentioned.  Other cities mentioned are Las Vegas, San Diego, Kansas City and Louisville.
Dinosaurs
The gigantic beasts of the Jurassic and other periods disappeared millions of years ago; several scientists claim they are still among us in the form of modern birds.  In today’s NBA centers have become dinosaurs as well, teams no longer look toward adding them to the roster prior to offering proof they have an all-around game.  Want proof, how about this bit of information nbadraft.net and nbadraftroom.com place Jaxson Hayes of Texas at 9 and 5 respectively.  Hayes is the first center listed on both mock draft lists.
We must then drop down to Bruno Fernando (Maryland) at 13 and Bol Bol (Oregon) at 11 before we are able to locate another center on either mock site.  As I’ve often stated traditional big men still exist it’s their role in the game which changed for many of them.  If you come across a clone of Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Wilt Chamberlain, you refuse to play them in the typical center role?  As stated, numerous times in the past the role has evolved rather than the athlete.
They are not wrong all the time
If you’ve read Words eye view any length of time you know I have issues with the NCAA.  From a fan’s perspective most of the rules they attempt to enforce are not reflective of the 21st Century.  Despite my issues (and maybe yours) the NCAA is not wrong all the time.  The “Mouth that roared” a.k.a. LaVar Ball has decided the governing organization is conspiring against his youngest son.  He’s got a fight on his hands attempting to secure a basketball scholarship for Melo Ball.  This is not a talent issue although this writer has concerns there as well.  Let’s check out the top three reasons working against Melo Ball being granted amateur status.
1.  You hire an agent.  2.  You sign a contract to play basketball in Europe.  3.  You endorse the BBB line of shoes, surely there’s nothing there to cause the NCAA to be concerned about his amateur status.  I’m joking, there is plenty of evidence to reject an application from any school.  You remember back in December LaVar claimed there were 3 or 4 schools wanting to sign his son?  If that is the case, why wouldn’t they go to bat for Melo?  He didn’t win but a few might remember when John Calipari wanted Enes Kanter at Kentucky.  The NCAA ruled against Kanter based on eligibility issues, LaVar why not fight a fight worthy, this one is clearly not in your favor.
