Basketball from a fan’s perspective

Afternoon activities
Magic Johnson is likely at home watching the playoffs, Lonzo Ball is somewhere still recouping from injury and busy changing agents, apparently he’s divorcing himself from the BBB brand too.  As for D’Angelo Russell he’s still playing, he led the way to the Nets stunning victory over the Sixers.  Although Russell didn’t shoot particularly well, he managed to lead his team to a 111-102 victory.  Apparently Magic Johnson is more skilled directing traffic on the court than directing a front-office.
Not long
That didn’t take long, Luke Walton who was fired or resigned on Friday has a job on Saturday.  The Kings fired 3rd year coach Dave Joerger after the season made this move quickly.  It’s possible they may have thought somebody might grab him before them.  We read a few complaints regarding his rotation strategy, but they only cropped up after the arrival of LeBron James.  Could LeBron have been the source of the complaints?
This is interesting
The guy who started the whole conspiracy speculation returns to action; he wasn’t physically present at the time but allow for a further explanation.  1985 became the first year the draft lottery was instituted.  It was believed teams would no longer lose games on purpose to improve their draft position.  The lottery is weighted now in favor of teams with the worst records but not then.  The 1983 draft saw the Rockets select Ralph Sampson and the following year Hakeem Olajuwon both now in the Hall of Fame.  The story goes in a late season game the Rockets were beating the Kansas City Kings significantly in the 3rd quarter.  The Rockets pulled all their starters the Kings would rally and win the game.  The loss ensured the Rockets of finishing with the worst record in the NBA and the top pick.
In the 1985 draft lottery the late Dave DeBusschere then general manager of the Knicks made the selection.  DeBusschere reached into the hopper containing all the cards and pulled the one which ensured the Knicks would be able to draft the top pick in that draft.  The pick would later become Patrick Ewing who would successfully lead the Knicks to several playoff wins over the course of his Hall of Fame career.  Cynics claim to this day the lottery was rigged, we’ve read of the card being “frozen” or bent which allowed DeBusschere to choose it among the many.  We just read Ewing now coach of Georgetown will return to the scene.  It’s being reported he’s going to represent the Knicks at the lottery.  Can we say Zion Williamson, naw it couldn’t happen again could it?
Chasing a dream
This is surprising to many; the name Chris Clemons is unfamiliar to several college basketball fans.  Clemons led Division I basketball in scoring this past season with a 30.1 point per game average.  He played at Campbell University located in Buies Creek North Carolina.  I was unfamiliar with the location but discovered this small town is part of the Raleigh-Durham combined statistical area.
Did I mention he’s a 5-foot 9-inch point guard, Clemons wasn’t highly recruited his height surely was a factor.  Clemons wants to play in the NBA, according to my reading this has been a long-time dream for him.  NBAdraft.net list his name in the second round of the 2019 draft.  Clemons certainly is a long-shot to earn a roster spot however so was Spud Webb, Muggsy Bogues and Nate Robinson.
