Ain’t listening
The ESPN
headline read, “Inside the disagreements and compromises that brought the NBA
back.” The choice is yours not mine, I
ain’t listening or reading ESPN, Stephen A. Smith, Colin Cowherd, or any other
sources. It is clear without exploring
the details this restart of the NBA season was difficult to solve. The decision is made, good or bad why debate
a topic resolved? This summation is
brief but to the point, the NBA is the ultimate decider end of story. Smith and
others can pontificate till the cows come home; nothing changes. This is not intended to muzzle independent thought but why bother with an attempt to point out the faults serves no purpose for me.
Post season ban
Oklahoma State
basketball received a one-year post season ban by the NCAA. This is a result of an FBI investigation; in addition,
the program is placed on probation for the next three seasons. A reduction in the amount of scholarships the
school can offer is also part of the penalty.
Oklahoma State announced their intention to appeal the punishment which
is not surprising. This is the first
punishment rendered by the Committee on Infractions. A few big-time programs are still waiting NCAA judgement, chief among them is Kansas basketball.
Warriors need
We have discussed
best fits for specific teams, we are going to explore the Warriors needs. We have seen mocks and the names mentioned, Anthony
Edwards Georgia, LaMelo Ball Australia, and James Wiseman Memphis to name a
few. What about Obi Topping Dayton’s all
everything forward as the best fit for the Warriors? We witnessed his speed racing up and down the
court, Topping has an inside-outside game.
The only
question is 3-point range, we did not see evidence however keep in mind we only
witnessed a few games. The Warriors need
outside shooting so Topping fits here, he checks all the boxes so there you
have it. We should expect to hear Commissioner
Silver step to the podium and announce, "With the ________pick the Golden State Warriors chose Obi Topping Dayton University.
I wonder
Some of you
might remember my debate on NBA League Pass, I intended to purchase it strictly
to view Laker games. My auto insurance
company issued me a refund after covid-19 for a valid reason. Quarantined at home millions of Americans
like me were unable to work which entailed driving. How do you charge someone for the privilege
of driving at a time there are stuck at home? I wonder if the NBA refunded money to those fans who purchased NBA League Pass, hmmmm.
The player becomes the owner
Magic Johnson
was once a partial owner of the Lakers; we have no idea of the percentage he
once held. Magic has since divested his
ownership and is now part of Dodger management.
Heading east in Atlanta Georgia we find Grant Hill; he is part of the ownership
group which runs the Hawks franchise. One
might ask the question the Big Diesel, a.k.a. Superman Shaquille O’Neal is
active in literally everything.
We could
include NBA ownership as well Shaq is now one of the Kings owners. We conclude with the only former player to
date who is a principal owner. That
player would be Michael ‘Air’ Jordan and his team the Hornets. There are other former players indicating a desire
to become an owner. One of the names mentioned
is Kevin Garnett who spent the bulk of his NBA career as a member of the
Wolves. Who is next is just as easily
your guess as mine, it will occur we are just unsure how soon?
