Basketball from a fans perspective

Confused
Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of Peter Jok you’ve heard his story indirectly.  Jok a senior plays for the University of Iowa and is considered a potential NBA draft choice.   The 6-6 guard is the Big 10’s leading scorer at 21.0 points per game.  That’s the positive side of his story as for the negative stay tuned.  Jok is a naturalized American citizen originally from Sudan one of the nations placed on the ban travel list.

His family resides in the U.S. however Jok has relatives in the nation of Sudan and he’s confused by the travel ban.  If Jok thinks he’s confused so is much of the American public based on the court fight.  NBA players Thon Maker and Luol Deng are also originally from Sudan.  There are others here don‘t dribble a basketball or shot jump shots who are also likely confused by this ban. They have relatives in Sudan and their are others in the six nations who are impacted by the travel ban.

“What did the president know and when did he know it”
Former Senator Howard Baker uttered those words during hearings on the Watergate burglary. The hearings would be key to beginning the impeachment process against President Richard Nixon. This time it is far less drama and only involves the president of the Lakers Jim Buss. Laker great Magic Johnson has been a continuing critic of the manner Buss has run the team. Even more interesting we are now hearing word this latest move has caught Buss off-guard, he had no idea Magic Johnson was returning to a position on the team.  It appears sister Jeannie Buss felt no need to inform her brother Magic was going to hired in an advisory position.  Can you say awkward?

Boo
Former Yankee great Reggie Jackson said he loved opposing crowds when his name was announced in the lineup or at bat.  Jackson indicated it allowed him to focus even more toward hitting the baseball successfully.  Kobe Bryant had the same mindset he voiced a similar statement on the road he loved to be viewed by the opposition.  We might add Dwight Howard to the list but maybe for a different reason.

Howard’s burned bridges behind him in Orlando, Lakers and Houston.  I’m unsure if I’ve ever read how he’s treated in Orlando but we know he’s booed in Los Angeles when his team plays the Lakers.  Another team was added to the mix on Thursday evening, it was Howard’s first game in Houston since he left for the Hawks.  Howard was greeted by a chorus of boos on his return to Houston.    He responded in the best manner leading the way 24 points and 23 rebounds in a 113-108 victory.

My thoughts
By now you’ve had an opportunity to read LeBron’s commentary on Charles Barkley and his continuous complaints regarding LeBron.  It you’ve read Words eye view any length of time you understand I respect the accomplishments of LeBron but cannot say “he’s one of my favorites. “ This time I’m on LeBron’s side, Turner Sports pays Barkely large sums of money to be opinionated.  At the same time everything that comes out of his mouth is not necessarily the truth.
It’s only the world viewed through Barkley’s eyes.  I said a couple of week’s back I listen to about half of what Barkley says and I didn’t state which half.  Did LeBron step over the line by making it personal, yes I could say to mention Barkley off the court issues was not required?  A far easier method of resolving the discussion would be; “I’ve got three NBA Championship rings how many you got Charles?  I’ve been named regular season MVP four times how about you?”
