Basketball from a fans perspective

Regional NBA team?
Road mileage from Kansas City to Denver is 604 miles, Chicago 509 and Dallas 505.  As for Oklahoma City it’s less than 350 miles between the cities.  Perhaps that’s the reasoning behind the Thunders attempt to target the Kansas City metro.  For the last three seasons the baseball Royals have partnered with the NBA team for “Thunder Day.”  The game was held August 26 at Kaufmann Stadium and featured the Cleveland Indians facing the Royals, the Royals were losers 12-5 to Cleveland.
The number three
Yesterdays Words eye view contained a report on Mizzou 2019 prospects.  No cheering just a report rather than praise, E.J. Liddell has reduced his list.  The 6-foot 7-inch 220 pound forward has Ohio State, Illinois and Mizzou on his list of schools making the cut.  As a reminder the youngster is a 4-star prospect in the ESPN 100 and 4-stars in Rivals list of 2019 prospects.  The Kansas City Star reports Ohio State has already received a commitment from an athlete who plays the same position as Liddell.  The Belleville Illinois prospect claims it to be a non-issue, he says both could play in the same frontcourt.  His hometown on the Illinois technically is metro St. Louis since it only lies less than 20 miles from downtown St. Louis Missouri.
He is the Clippers!
Those in Southern California and NBA TV have listened to the voice of Ralph Lawler for quite a few years.  He was hired in 1978 a time the former Buffalo Braves were re-branded as the San Diego Clippers.  Lawler moved to Los Angeles in 1984 when they became the Los Angeles Clippers.   I was curious and decided to check the roster for the 1978 Clippers, among the names I discovered were Randy Smith, World B. Free and Sidney Wicks.  The coach of that first Clippers team in San Diego was Gene Shue.  Consider the number of players Lawler’s witnessed in Clipper and opposing jerseys over this time-frame?  The 81-year old Lawler’s voice will be silent at the end of the season, the only radio-television voice ever for the Clippers is retiring.
I don’t get paid
I have plenty of opinions just like Stephen A. Smith, the difference Smith gets paid the big bucks me the left-overs, oh well.  ESPN pays Smith large sums of money to often provide us inaccurate projections.  I always say, “you must play the game” and that is the case with the Lakers.  I believe the Lakers will become a better team beyond LeBron James.  I make this statement with the belief we’ll witness the continued growth of Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram and perhaps Lonzo Ball.
I’ve stated this previously, Lance Stephenson and Rajon Rondo along with Michael Beasley have been knuckleheads in the past…. I don’t believe that occurs with LeBron.  Did I fail to mention the three veterans can provide leadership to the baby Lakers?  Mo Wagner and Svi Mykahiliuk are rookies, I almost never count on rookies to add much to a team’s success until they prove capable, they might help in spots.  There we have it a mix of young and veteran players essentially led by LeBron James.  Can they make an impact during the 2018-19 season, I believe that is possible?
