Basketball from a fans perspective

The other guys
Johnny Jones LSU and Kim Anderson Missouri are not the only ones as I indicated; there are 14 coaches who will not return in the fall.  Drake, North Carolina State, George Washington and Miami (OH) are just a few of the schools with HELP WANTED SIGNS placed on the coaches’ office door.  John Cooper Miami (OH) has a KC connection, he played his high school ball at Rockhurst and college ball at Wichita State.

I’m going to leave this alone….for now
You would not hire a bank examiner to be a construction supervisor; the same logic would apply for a house cleaning job you wouldn’t hire an educator.  Do you see where I’m headed I hope, the team of Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka has been criticized in some circles.  The chief reason; “They have no experience.”  There is no argument they are both rookies however IF talent appears to be evident regarding an athlete a team takes a chance.  They believe the athlete can adjust his or her skill level and adjust to play at this level.  We could make the same statement regarding professional teams’ front office personnel.

I know its baseball however it’s evident Sam Presti has his share of hits over the years with the Thunder; he’s also had a number of misses.  At the time the misses become greater than the hits he’s out of a job.  The same goes for the Johnson and Pelinka team, don’t assume because someone is hired they have a job for life it doesn’t work that way.  March 11, 2016 I believe they will eventually re-brand the Lakers into a championship team.  Check back with me on March 11, 2018 to see if both are still employed or if the Lakers are contending for a championship.  We cannot access the Lakers now despite what the pundits might believe.

He might have help
Russell Westbrook has help in this his attempt to tie Oscar Robertson.  Tom Haberstroh ESPN NBA Analyst has compiled two interesting bits of information relating to Westbrook‘s assault.  He claims; “Westbrook is averaging 2 more rebounds a game in Oklahoma City than on the road.” Habertroh also indicates “Westbrook leads the league in uncontested rebounds.”

Video detailed Thunder players “moving” away from the ball allowing Westbrook to rebound the ball.  This was pointed out earlier by another analyst I wondered if it was really true.  I know you saying Larry Laker doesn’t like Westbrook this becomes one more opportunity to downgrade his season.  Okay if you wish to take this account from that viewpoint that’s okay too.

When is justice unequal?
I’ll paint the picture; two players are involved in an altercation off the basketball court.  The police are contacted should both players be suspended?  Before you answer the question the picture painted is a real-life incident however the punishment was not done equability.  I hesitated covering anything related to Kansas basketball which might appear negative; I did this for one clear reason. My issue with Kansas and its refusal to meet Mizzou on the basketball court.  McKenzie Calvert a member of the Kansas Women’s team had an incident occur with a member of the Kansas Men’s team.

Calvert tossed a drink on Lagerald Vick and Josh Jackson defending his teammate followed Calvert and physically damaged Calvert’s vehicle.  This is where the story gets muddled, Calvert was suspended and barred from Allen Fieldhouse and viewing any game tape.  Because Calvert’s father complained about his daughters’ suspension and no punishment for Jackson he went public with his complaint.  He acknowledged his daughter was wrong but he also believed it was wrong, the suspension was lifted.

In the meantime Jackson has been charged with misdemeanor damage to the vehicle, he apologized and offer to pay for repairs.  How does one player get suspended and the other (Jackson) is dealt with by the coach in private?  NOTE:  Prior to the first game of the Big 12 Tournament Jackson was suspended.  Not for this incident but an automobile accident which just came to light on Monday.  It appears this year version of the Jayhawks including Jackson have off-court issues.
