Basketball from a fans perspective

Pronounce it correctly
I’m old skool in a sense; I’m use to pronouncing a word or term by checking how it’s spelled. This can sometimes be interpreted incorrectly and is not always the easiest method but sometimes it works.  As for Mizzou’s Cuonzo Martin I was incorrect in my pronunciation of his name. Phonetically speaking his name is pronounced CON-zoe.

Moved and replaced
Jimmy Buss attempted a power move and failed, despite failing he’s still gonna be paid. The brother remains part of the Laker trust he just has limited power now.  He is no longer a trustee having been replaced by sister Janie Buss.  The court agreed with the original trust stating; “Trustees are obligated to do everything in their power to ensure Jeanie Buss remains both the Lakers controlling owner and head of the Lakers board of directors for life.”  Now it’s all on Jeanie no excuses if the Lakers don’t win, we can no longer point at Jimmy.  The question how long before the team is competitive again with Jeanie leading the way assisted by the Magic/Pelinka tandem.

The countdown
Who is this years MVP you ask, mine is Mike D’Antoni Rockets coach.  The coach deserves credit for structuring an offense that’s allowed James Harden to expand and upgrade his game. We remember Harden the guy who never saw a shot he didn’t like.  They said the same thing about him once said of Kevin McHale, “He’s a black hole” the ball goes into him and you never see it again.  I was one of those who believed we’d seen the best of James Harden.  I was wrong, you were wrong and bunch of other basketball “experts” were wrong.

Last season the Rockets finished the regular season 41-41 and out of the playoffs.  This season they are 51-22 as this is written and the only teams ahead of them in the Western Conference are the Warriors and Spurs.  Many look at Russell Westbrook and the Thunder; I would pose the question is the Thunder better this season than last?  Before you answer I realize Kevin Durant was on the team last season but you’ve got to check a team’s won-loss record to determine who might be most valuable.  Co-MVP's as one party state it forget that, you win it alone or not at all.

Who would have figured?
Is your bracket similar to mine totally busted, we have a Final Four consisting of North Carolina, South Carolina, Gonzaga and Oregon.  Did any of you have any of those mentioned as your Final Four teams?  Okay maybe you had North Carolina and Gonzaga because both were seeded number one.  Unless you were a fan of South Carolina (7) or Oregon (3) you couldn’t have picked them.  South Carolina will be matched against Gonzaga and Oregon will face North Carolina.  I know this to be true about 40 miles west of here on I-70 there are a number of folks who will be rooting for an Oregon win.  One more note of interest two of the teams (Oregon & South Carolina) once coached at Kansas State.
