CORRECTION
Those of you who read the lead story headline yesterday it was incorrect.  It read: “They are trying him”, it should have read: “They are trading him”.  The guy who checks my grammar, continuity and spelling will be dealt with severely for this oversight.

An interesting business approach
This is quite different; Fanatics sports apparel is offering a different method of exchange for jersey purchases.  The company concerned fans might be hesitant to purchase apparel believing the player might be traded now have an option.  If a player is traded within three months you have two weeks to exchange it for the new jersey or another of your choice.  That is an interesting a novel business approach.

Unfulfilled promise
There are athletes who never reached their potential for a variety of reasons.  At or near the top of the list are those players that were just not as talented as we believed.  Others such as Ron Harper became a valued member of the Bulls and Lakers after injuries robbed him of portions of his game.  We might make the same statement about Larry Johnson during the period he was a member of the Hornets.

As for others their self-destructive lifestyle derailed their potential.  A considerable number of NBA players might fit here but this is a focus on Lloyd Daniels.  Daniels has played in the NBA, ABA, CBA, IBL in the states, he’s played in France, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Greece.  Daniels has played all over the nation and world always discovering another method to derail his career.  He came out of NYC in 1986-87 and many claimed the 6-7 190-pound Daniels was the best high school player to emerge from the city since a fella named Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

He never should have seen the inside of a college, 5 high schools and reading at a third-grade level he managed to secure a commitment from UNLV under the late Jerry Tarkanian.  Enrolled in a junior college to raise his GPA he was arrested buying crack cocaine, UNLV immediately dropped him at that point.  From that period on Sweet Pea as he was nicknamed moved from team to team and league to league.

Trouble continued throughout his basketball career, he was once shot three times but survived, Sweet Pea’s been in rehab several times.  It was said he could pass like Magic and shoot like Bird he just couldn’t remain sober enough to sustain a career anywhere.  This is a condensed version of his life, you can locate additional detail on the web.  As for Sweet Pea he’s now 50-years old his basketball career long since over, oh my what he might have been if not so self-destructive.

Klay Thompson’s dad is part of the radio broadcast team for the Lakers.  Many of you outside the range of Laker radio probably didn’t realize his background prior to reading this.  Mychal was a valued reserve (along with Michael Cooper) during the Showtime era of the Lakers.  He served as a back-up at the power forward position and provided relief for the ageing Kareem Abdul Jabbar.  Drafted by the Blazers as the first pick in the 1978 draft he remained with them through 1986.  Mychal would spend a year with the Spurs and was traded to the Lakers and assume the role most Laker fans are familiar with, a valued reserve.
