BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERSPECTIVE
Nobody is perfect
Nobody is perfect even NBA commissioner Adam Silver, I’m sure there are issues he might have dealt with sooner.  There might be issues he should have addressed but failed to accomplish.  Despite his shortcomings the NFL apparently wants him, a report circulated several NFL owners reached out to Silver with the intent to hire him as commissioner.  I have issues dealing with the effectiveness of Roger Goodell but evidently some NFL owners do as well.
Hmmmmm
Dell Demps GM of the Pelicans has been fired, what is this all about?  Could it be connected to Anthony Davis, or could it be something else?  I happened to believe it is fall-out from the mess that became the attempt to trade AD.  The Big Easy ain’t so easy now at least for Demps.
Chamberlain to Embiid
I’ve done the research, keep in mind NBA success.  The University of Kansas has sent several players to the NBA over the decades, the legendary Wilt Chamberlain burst on the NBA scene in 1960.  Over the course of his career he would establish standards that will never be equaled.   Research indicates Joel Embiid is THE BEST center to emerge from Kansas since Wilt Chamberlain.  You think that’s bold and it might be someone else, Kansas has sent several good players to the NBA since that period. They are named Paul Pierce, Andrew Wiggins, Danny Manning and the Morris twins, did you notice?
None of them play the center position although power forwards twins have occasionally played the position.  Embiid’s start was delayed by injury but since then he’s been an offensive and defensive spark for his Sixer team.  I dare you, in fact I double dog dare you to locate someone other than Embiid.  A pure center from Kansas drafted after 1960 (Chamberlain) who is as good as Embiid, I’m waiting on your answer.  Did I mention how the legend changed the game, how about this note.  Everyone claimed the NBA had become “small-ball.”  That might be the case except when you have a big man capable of shooting from the 3-point line.
How will I know
NOTE: This was written prior to Zubac being traded, I decided to publish it anyway due to my belief in what is written.  The title above could connect us to the 1985 hit by the late Whitney Houston, it could also be a reference to Laker reserve center Ivica Zubac.  Unless you are a Wilt, Kareem or Shaq it takes time adjusting to play at the center position in the NBA even in the 21st Century.  Zubac continues to display flashes of brilliance when given the opportunity to play.
Zubac was one of the keys to his team beating the Thunder with 26 points and 12 rebounds on 12-14 shooting from the floor (.857).  Chosen in the second round of the 2016 draft during his brief NBA career Zubac’s played behind a Laker veteran, it was Timofey Mozgov then Brook Lopez and now JaVale McGee.  The Lakers signed free-agent Tyson Chandler to fill a void they believed the team had.  Does Zubac remain in the reserve roll due to shortcomings affecting his game?  How will I know since I haven’t seen the youngster in action enough?  Did I say despite being a veteran Zubac is still only 21-years old and will not turn 22 until March.  Lakersnation.com claims he was traded because the Lakers couldn’t afford to resign him.
