BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERSPECTIVE
The Unicorn in Big D
It’s unlikely Kristaps Porzingis plays this season, he is still recovering from the ACL injury suffered exactly one year ago.  He was at Mavs practice on Monday and was spotted in a video shooting free-throws.
Jeremiah Tilmon Jr. can play
Based on past grumbles by this writer you find the headline difficult to believe.  His propensity to commit fouls witnessed him fouling out of nearly half of Mizzou’s games.  The games he did finish there were periods Tilmon Jr. wasn’t on the floor, foul trouble.  Have we seen a new and improved version of the Mizzou sophomore?  As a “glass half full rather than half empty” check his numbers, despite the foul issues his overall play has improved from his freshman year.
Over the last three games his numbers have been 16 points and 6.3 rebounds.  Despite his improved play the team has only one victory which occurred Saturday evening.  Tllmon Jr. led the way in Mizzou’s 77-67 victory over Vanderbilt.  He scored 19 points along with 98 rebounds and 1 blocked shot.  For the third consecutive game Tilmon Jr. finished the game on the court rather than on the bench.  I am looking at the future, next season he should be even better than what we witness in this his sophomore year.  Don’t confuse this profile, by no means am I claiming the 6-foot 10 252-pound Tilmon Jr. is headed for the NBA.  His growth could lead to a pro career in Europe or G-League.
“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas any longer”
It could be the refrain of Dorothy or basketball prospects, we must wait and determine if I’m correct in my observation.  It’s my belief the high-profile prospects might be avoiding Kansas due to possible penalties being levied connected to the Adidas trial.  Jeremiah Robinson-Earl whose father played at Kansas chose to attend Villanova.  Jay Wright runs one of the best programs in the nation so it just might be coincidence.  Let’s check out the Rivals Top 10, these uncommitted have either visited the campus or have Kansas on their list of prospective schools.
Anthony Edwards 6-4 SG Guard #2
Cole Anthony 6-2 PG #4
Jaden McDaniels 6-9 forward #6
Matthew Hurt 6-9 forward #7
Kansas is unlikely to sign all four of these 5-star prospects, do any of the Rivals uncommitted decide to play for Bill Self?  It should be interesting over the next few months to see what unfolds.
This is rare
The January 31 Bleacher Report contained an interesting photo.  Pictured were Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Kyle Korver at the time members of the Bulls.  Below the photo of the former Bulls player was one from this season.  In this photo was Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah now all members of the Wolves were featured.  In the day of free-agency and player trades having former teammates become teammate again might not be that unusual.  Having four former teammates with one team united on another team is highly unusual.
