BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERPECTIVE
Wait till the end of the game
I’m willing to admit it, I’m impatient when it comes to my teams.  Doesn’t matter what sport be it Lakers basketball, Mizzou football and basketball, Chiefs football and Royals baseball.  On Sunday I had a conflict, Mizzou basketball or Chiefs football at 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.  I chose basketball, up to this point Chiefs football is far better than Mizzou basketball.  Mizzou had the University of Central Florida on the schedule and Tacko Fall the 7-foot 6-inch center. I’m unsure if my choice was a good one, I yelled and screamed at the television the first half of the game.  My wife kept giving me the “What is wrong with you” look.
I left the family room for the Man Cave, after an atrocious first half (1-15 the last few minutes) Mizzou came to life in the second half.  After a so-so first half by Jeremiah Tilmon against 7-foot 6-inch Tacko Fall Mizzou played inspired basketball in the second half.  UCF ahead with seconds on the clock guard Jordan Geist sank a 3-point basket tying the score and forcing an OT.  Final score Mizzou 64 UCF 62.  The value of Tilmon in the game (10 points) and active cannot be overstated, he managed to occupy Fall although the big man had 6 blocked shots in the game.  I’ve decided every Mizzou game is going to be a dogfight but that’s okay.  If they are hustling and trying, I’m okay.
Soap opera
I admit I’ve been caught up in several of the night time television soap operas. Whether its daytime or night the theme is always the same.  As soon as one potential catastrophe is resolved another one crops up.  We could almost consider Sixer Markelle Fultz to be a soap opera in a sense, consider this fact.  It’s been reported the player is seeking additional consultation on his wrist and shoulder.  Once again, we are left scratching our heads attempting to determine what’s next Fultz.  First question, wasn’t the shoulder issue corrected by surgery last winter?  Is the player continuing to search for consultants to validate his view of the wrist and surgery?  We don’t have an answer……stay tuned.
Not unusual
It’s not unusual to have an undefeated college team early in the basketball season.  We expect to see Kansas, Gonzaga, North Carolina or Duke mentioned in conversation.  Carolina and Duke have fallen from the ranks of the undefeated but not Buffalo.  The AP Top 25 has Buffalo listed as the number 21 team in the nation, they have a sparkling 7-0 record as this is written.
These same Buffalo Bulls are members of the MAC East Conference sit alone in first place and in the Top 25.  Has Buffalo ever earned a Top 25 spot, the answer to that question is no, this is a first for the Bulls?  This season is a follow up to their 26-8 finish and an NCAA berth.  The Bulls shocked the world in the 2018 NCAA tourney when they upset number 4 seed Arizona in the first round 89-68.  Later they would lose to Kentucky 95-75 ending their season.
Can you spell upset
December 1 was upset Saturday or at least that was the view of the Creighton Blue Jays. Creighton had defeat on their minds and they almost managed to accomplish the feat, they lead for most of the game.  Despite what was hoped the final score read Gonzaga 103 Creighton 92.  Leading the way for the Zags was Zac Norvell Jr. with 28 points and Brandon Clarke with 27.  Rue Hachimura top scorer for the Zags tied his season average scoring 22 points.
