BASKETBALL FROM A FANS PERSPECTIVE
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
This is not a reference to the 1966 classic Clint Eastwood western.  In this instance the discussion centers on UCF center Tacko Fall all 7 feet 6 inches and 310 pounds of him.  The Good, the guy can block shots like crazy, in fact this other than attitude might be his best attribute.  The Bad, stamina still appears to be a problem and we could include foul troubles in the discussion.
The Ugly, Fall is a terrible free-throw shooter, I’m sure the coach would remove him from any close game for fear of him being intentionally fouled.  His offensive game has progressed little from the time I first saw him as a freshman.  Despite the negative scouting report, it would appear Fall might have a future in Europe. Don Nelson managed to utilize Manute Bol years ago as a 3-point shot maker and defensive specialist.  I cannot for see Fall in this type of role on an NBA team.
I’m ready
Right or wrong I’ve concluded; the Lakers should make the move.  The circus that’s become the Wizards requires a housecleaning and after much thought and research I’m ready to make my move.  Stepping into the shoes of Magic Johnson I’m ready to make a trade for Bradley Beal.  He’s young (just turned 25), the talented guard can score the basketball and plays good defense.  Who do the Lakers trade for this St. Louis native?  Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Ingram/Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball and a future second round draft choice.  My conclusion, we shall see if or how this might play out.
I don’t have a year or date
To my knowledge John Calipari at Kentucky might have been the first.  Memory says he’s the first college coach to extensively recruit one and done athletes.  Calipari sought out athletes it was believed were enrolling in Kentucky with their eyes on the NBA.  Later North Carolina and Kansas also began recruiting one and done athletes.  It was believed Duke with its academic requirements would never recruit one and done athletes.  That view certainly changed.
Kyrie Irving in 2010 might have been the first Duke player to leave after but one season.  One and done has become a regular part of recruiting up to the present.  The top prospect in the Class of 2019 verbally committed to Duke on Thursday.  Vernon Carey Jr., a 6-foot 10-inch 275-pound center made Duke his destination for the fall of 2019.  Carey attends University High School in Fort Lauderdale Florida and we offer this as proof.  71-year old (72 in February) Coach K. is not unwilling to make a seek a different path for Duke’s program.
Texas Triangle
Texas Triangle is the term applied by visiting NBA teams when San Antonio, Dallas and Houston are on the schedule.  The only other state with three NBA teams is California with the Warriors, Clippers and Lakers.  Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are the “Texas Triangle” but how did they come about you might ask.  First these Texas cities have the population to support NBA basketball but there founding is interesting.  The San Antonio Spurs were founded as an ABA team and with the merger moved into the NBA.  The San Diego Rockets moved to Houston in 1971 becoming the Houston Rockets.  As for the Mavs, they were an expansion team and came into existence in 1980.

Laying awake at night
Did you read the story I read the other day, they did it again the media that is?  They ask LaVar Ball about his relationship with LeBron James.  “I don’t have a relationship with LeBron.”  Can you imagine this, LeBron laying away at night wondering?  Why don’t I have a good relationship with LaVar, it’s vital to my existence as a basketball player and a new Laker.”  What two things are not like the other, oil and water don’t mix, and this is likely the case here.
