Basketball from a fan’s perspective

Draft Lottery
The first five

Pelicans
Grizzlies
Knicks
Lakers
Cavs
We know Zion Williamson is headed to the Pelicans for sure, how about the next four picks?  I wanted to do this prior to the talking heads so my television is off.  Larry Laker will now place the crown of wisdom on his head.  The Grizzlies draft Ja Morant Murray State, Knicks likely take R.J. Barrett of Duke.  That leaves the Lakers and Cavs remaining, if the Lakers draft with the intent of keeping the pick it becomes Jaxson Hayes Texas center or Bol Bol Oregon center.  The Cavs pick Virginia forward DeAndre Hunter, Gonzaga forward Rui Hachimura or Coby White combo guard North Carolina.  Check back with me June 20 and see how accurate this assessment might be.
ZOU
Below is a portion of Monday’s Words eye view regarding Class of 2019 prospect Kobe Brown.  “He (Brown) identified several schools under consideration and eventually reduced the list to four schools which includes Mizzou. The other schools were Penn State, Vanderbilt and Minnesota.  The youngster indicated he will make his intentions known on Tuesday.
Isn’t it interesting how someone can boost your confidence in an outcome, that’s what’s occurred?  In this instance I’m going to depend on the Rock M Nation journalists a Mizzou fan website.  This journalist claims it’s Mizzou over Penn State, he believes Vanderbilt and Minnesota have been eliminated from consideration.”  Brown a 6 foot 7-inch 220-pound forward made it official today he’s headed to Mizzou in August.  He was originally headed to Texas A&M until they fired coach Billy Kennedy.
He’s safe (for now)
Reports have been circulating since the Raptors-Sixers series began Brett Brown Sixer coach would be fired.  In this social media world, we have no method of determining how or why the story first began circulating.  The Sixers lost their playoff series to the Raptors, the face of the franchise Joel Embiid had enough of all the reports flowing.
"I was off social media. I heard about all these rumors and I just thought it was bulls---," Embiid said. "He's done a fantastic job. He's been there through everything and then this year I think he grew even more as a coach. He learned. We all learned." 1.  After Brown had a meeting with the managing partner for the Sixers plus the GM Brown is safe for the time being.  I wouldn’t become too comfortable if I were the coach.

Here’s hoping
The Knicks don’t win the draft lottery, see this is written late Tuesday morning.  By the time you read this you know more than me.  No, I’m not a Knick hater, no I don’t believe the NBA requires a successful franchise in New York City.  Just in case you are confused on the direction of this rant allow for a journey back in time to 1985.
That was the first year of the lottery and Georgetown had a preeminent center named Patrick Ewing.  The Knicks won the first pick in 1985 which later became Ewing.  Since 1985 we’ve read or heard countless stories how the lottery was rigged which allowed the Knicks to secure the top spot.  I’m sorry for several of you I don’t share your belief, I for one refuse to believe in conspiracy theories.  If you are a subscriber to conspiracies that’s okay but don’t get upset with me for my failure to believe.
Bits n Pieces
Word out of Denver, after sitting out this past season and rehab Michael Porter Jr. is experiencing no pain.  He hopes to play for the Nuggets Summer League team.  Several Mizzou fans remain upset due to a promise that never materialized, this is one fan who wishes he could have played but harbors no resentment.  I hope he makes it back to what we believe is his full potential.
Are the Curry parents going to repeat the effort we often witness when sons (or daughters) play for opposing teams?  With Seth playing for the Blazers and Steph with the Warriors what occurs?  Do they sit behind the Warriors bench in the first half and the Blazers bench in the second?  Maybe it’s the opposite, Blazers in the first half Warriors in the second.  Inquiring minds want to know how they intend to address this delicate issue.
You remember Boogie, don’t you?  No not Boogie Cousins the other one, Rejan ‘Boogie’ Ellis 6-foot 3-inch point guard.  This Class of 2019 prospect is awarded 4-stars by Rivals and is number 37 on their list.  Ellis was headed to Duke but de-committed searching for another program.  Penny Hardaway struck again securing a verbal commitment from Boogie Ellis on Monday for his Memphis Tigers
