Basketball from a fan’s perspective

His comment probably made some enemies
It’s been mentioned on more than one occasion Ja Morant burst onto the national spotlight.  Few other than Murray State opponents likely knew his name, an outstanding sophomore year and the NBA comes a calling.  This is the Zion Williamson draft; he will be the top choice in June.  In second or third place will be Ja Morant.  As for the comment that probably made some enemies, Morant said; 1. "I'm a point god, [I have] the ability to not only make plays for me, but also my teammates.”  He ain’t lying, I’m unsure if I can remember a point guard with his skill at distributing the basketball.
John Wall, Trae Young are the only two I can think of although there might be someone I’m overlooking.  As for the comment keep this in mind, in 1969 the American Football League was battling the well establish National Football League for the hearts and minds of football fans.  After the NFL won the first two games by a wide margin few imagined this upstart league was on the same level.  A brash quarterback named Joe Namath for the AFL Jets days before the match said, “I guarantee the Jets will win.”  Few believed him but he proved to be correct as the New York Jets upset the Baltimore Colts (who were favored by 18 points) 16-7.

Las Vegas bookmakers
Are the Knicks fortunes looking upward, Vegas bookies believes that to be the case?  They have placed odds on the Knicks winning the 2020 NBA championship ahead of the Lakers.  I might remind you last season they finished with 17 wins and 65 losses; the Lakers were 37-45.  The apparent return to greatness is based on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving both joining the Knicks over the summer as free agents.  Couple that with the possible addition of Zion Williamson I guess we can understand the optimism of Las Vegas.  Keep in mind the oddsmakers do just that, there are two or three other teams more likely to win over the Knicks.
Anymore off-spring out there?
Rest assured more than likely there are more sons of former NBA players around the nation.  Bronny James son of LeBron is a name that immediately comes to mind, he’s still in high school though.  Jerry Stackhouse assuming the head coaching job at Vanderbilt hit the ground running in recruiting talent.  Stackhouse lured Scotty Pippen Jr. to Nashville and that’s not all.  On Sunday we learn Kenyon Martin Jr. is headed there as well.  Martin Sr. played for several NBA teams and had a 15-year NBA career.
We just don’t know
The Sixers will advance or fall in the playoffs dependent on balanced team scoring and team defense.  He’s the offensive threat likely unnamed when discussing the team.  J.J. Redick is the teams spot up shooter, Redick was Mr. Everything while at Duke University.  The question was “How will he adapt to the NBA and its faster paced game?”  He was the 11th pick in the first round by the Magic and the struggle began there.  He was a reserve player his first seven seasons with the Magic and one more with the Bucks.  July 2013 his fortunes would turn, acquired by the Clippers in a trade his game began to blossom.
Redick didn’t acquire additional speed; he didn’t become a better defender but the shooting.  Whether it was just maturity of his game or something else he became an offensive threat as a spot up 3-point shooter.  He moved into the starting lineup for the Clippers a role unseen since his days at Duke.  July 2017 Redick signed a 1-year contract as a free-agent with the Sixers, last July he signed on for another year as it appears Redick has found his niche in the NBA.  The 2018-19 season saw him register his highest point average (18.1 ppg) since his arrival in the NBA.  Check out his 3-point average since he’s become a starter it’s outstanding.
